Purpose
This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected of all Carer Escapes employees, members, and volunteers. It ensures our organisation is a safe, respectful, and inclusive space for carers and the wider community, and upholds our mission to improve the wellbeing of carers and build positive, supportive communities.

Standards of Behaviour
All employees, members, and volunteers must:
1. Respect and Dignity
- Treat carers and colleagues with respect, courtesy, and fairness.
- Value the diversity, experiences, and expertise of every individual.
- Listen actively and communicate with kindness and understanding.
2. Safety and Wellbeing
- Prioritise the physical, emotional, and psychological safety of all carers and participants.
- Support the creation of safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces at all Carer Escapes events and online platforms.
- Report any concerns about harm, abuse, or unsafe behaviour promptly.
3. Integrity and Accountability
- Act honestly, ethically, and transparently in all activities.
- Avoid conflicts of interest and declare any potential or actual conflicts to management.
- Use organisational resources responsibly and only for Carer Escapes purposes.
4. Confidentiality and Privacy
- Respect the privacy and confidentiality of carers, staff, and volunteers.
- Do not share personal or sensitive information without consent, unless required by law or to prevent harm.
5. Professionalism
- Maintain appropriate boundaries with carers and colleagues.
- Refrain from discrimination, harassment, bullying, or any behaviour that could harm others.
- Represent Carer Escapes positively in all interactions, including online and on social media.
6. Commitment to Carer Recognition
- Uphold the principles of the Carer Recognition Policy, acknowledging carers’ expertise, rights, and wellbeing.
- Involve carers in shaping programs, provide opportunities for feedback, and value their lived experience.
7. Compliance
- Follow all Carer Escapes policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations.
- Complete required checks and training, including Working With Children Check, Police Check, and any role-specific requirements.
Breaches of the Code
Breaches of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, which could include warnings, suspension, or termination of employment, membership, or volunteer engagement.
Review
This policy will be reviewed every two years, or as required by changes in legislation or organisational needs.
